WHAT FUELS ME?
·
Faith,
·
Love,
·
Wisdom
MY
GREATEST INFLUENCE:
My father died
when I was three years old, and my mother, who I fondly call an institution not
a person, single-handedly raised six children, me being the last child. Her
undying love/desire for all her children to be educated despite being a
government secondary school teacher with a barely there minimum wage and ‘The
Nigerian condition’ has had a profound influence on me. If I had been born
somewhere else, say, a “First world country”, where almost everything “works”,
or into old money, I probably would not love God as fiercely as I do now, nor have
the unquenchable fire drive of success that burns constantly in my soul.
MY TOP THREE ROLE MODELS:
A role model is a person
who serves as an example, whose behavior is emulated by others. To this, I have no one. I believe in being the best of who you really
are. After all, everyone else is taken. Not to take this the wrong way, I draw
inspiration from a lot of people. From the strength of my mother in inculcating
in me early the need to never let go of core values no matter what, to the
unending selflessness of Mother Theresa that you can change your sphere with
love, and the tenacity of Wole Soyinka; no matter what happens, be the best at what
you do..The post modernist writer Virginia wolff, and ultimately my Lord and
saviour Jesus who till this day galvanises me that I can do whatever I set my
heart to to, and nothing is beyond my reach if I can only believe.
 THE AFRICAN WOMAN’S
CHALLENGE:
It cannot be
resounded enough how much the African woman needs education. We live in an
economical clime where the rules of having a successful business do not apply
and so investing intellectually in the African woman cannot be over emphasised.
Having said that, illiteracy is a huge problem that needs to tackled squarely.
The African woman will grow into herself when she’s properly informed, educated
on issues that border on her not just existing, but living. Her financial
independency, power in making life altering choices that can be limited by gender,
cultural practices, and religion will be greatly altered.
I am a giver..Not
yet a great giver but that will change soon. There are foundations and causes I
give to the education of the girl child, and the start up for small businesses
for woman in rural communities.
WHAT I
DO TO RELAX:
I enjoy
reading. I strongly believe in learning. Tom Ford said; the day a man stops
learning, he begins to die. Moreover, reading takes you place when you have to
remain where you are.
Music is
another thing I enjoy. All genres save heavy metal. I
love movies as well. I watch a good movie and it never grows old on me.
For physical
activity, I love cooking. Having someone eat my meals gives me great joy and cooking
is a de-stresser for me.
I am an avid Ping
pong/Table Tennis player, scrabble lover, and travel buff. When I have the
time, a road trip to a simple exotic location is my absolute favourite thing to
do.
MY
–   I.C.E. [INSPIRE|CELEBRATE|EMPOWER]
VISION
Inspiration
causes great aspiration and output. Inspire a woman, she will do more.
Celebrate her, like every other human being, she feels appreciated and is
spurred to be and do better. Empower her, and it spreads. There’s a saying from
the Benin Empire that “A female child never forgets home”. Because a woman is
born with a natural mothering instinct, when she is empowered, she builds,
manages, and is a career.

MY
AFRICAN UNION PLANS:
I would love
to be on the education team. Impress it on governments that we need more
teachers, schools/skills acquisition centres. Laws that protect the life and
rights of the female child/woman. Why? We need to teach our daughters, sisters,
across Africa. The positive change we seek, begins there.

FINAL WORDS OF ADVICE:

Believe
in yourself, do not sell yourself short for any reason. You are beautiful,
strong, talented, and can become whatever it is you want to be. Do not let any
one else convince you otherwise.
