My Name is Mame Diarra DIOP. 37 years. Mom of two
boys. I am journalist for more than ten years now. Former TV presenter on a pan
African channel, then Editor in Chief from 2010-2016 of a News website in Mali,
where I leave since 2009. I was born in Paris, of Malian-Senegalese parents,
and raised in Dakar until graduation. I have studied Translation and Modern
languages in Paris. I am now a radio journalist at the United Nations Mission
in Mali. I am also head of the Online Media Journalists association to promote
digital journalism and regulations on Internet.
WHAT FUELS ME?
Generosity is a core value for me as a journalist.
It helps me approach people and share what they have to say about their life
and its essential for me to report with generosity.
Knowledge, is a key in my life. Learning. I always
am in a position of learning new things, new information. I think Ignorance is
one the worst thing in life. When you don`t know, anything wrong can happen.
But when you know, you raise your awareness of the world and of reality.
Vision. For me is also part of creativity.
Innovation as well as vision empowers you to change the world around you. It
forces you to think new ways of transforming your life, your community and your
interaction with people.
MY GREATEST INFLUENCE:
My
mother.
As
a woman, she is strong, brave and has transmitted us the values of hard work
since childhood. I admire her deeply for her commitment towards her children,
her work as a pharmacist and the stability of her home. I wish to be able to shape
my own personal life with the courage she gave me.
Also
having faced illness in childhood has tripled my will to succeed in life.

MODELS:
Khanyi Dhlomo as a Woman Media Mogul in South
Africa. She is determined and is building an incredible media empire in South
Africa.
Nelson Mandela as great politics and leader who
used forgiveness and faith to rule his Nation South Africa
Folorunsho Alakija is this Nigerian Oil
businesswoman. Boss of Famfa Oil Limited, she has built a company is one the
richest woman in African and most influential in Nigeria. Her background shows
she has started from the first step to reach the top with ambition and humility,
hard work.
IN THE NEXT FIVE
YEARS…
Becoming an entrepreneur in the Media world. I am
developing new conceptual media platforms in Mali with original, creative
contents for women and artists. I am also building this strong network of
online professionals to defend their interest in the media landscape in Mali.
THE AFRICAN WOMAN’S CHALLENGE:
African women still need to be recognized as better
leaders, better entrepreneurs, better heads of state etc… They still are not
paid equally as men despite their competencies. They have to work tree times
harder than men to prove their values. They also need to be strongly related in
network to reach their goals…
WHAT
I DO TO RELAX:
In a pool. I love swimming. This my ultimate remedy.
When I feel down or tired, I go to swim for two hours and my optimism, strength
and enthusiasm come back. I also like travelling or reading a good book to get
out of a reality for a few hours…
