PAW Rose Seretse has flawlessly fought against corruption whilst she also helped establish the Commonwealth Africa Anti Corruption Center in Botswana. She is currently the CEO of Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority. She is doggedly astute, committed and fearless towards Africa’s development.

SOME KEY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

 

-Establishment of Anti-Corruption Units in Ministries and Parastatals

Now Ministries have their own Anti-Corruption Policy Statements, Conducts Corruption Risk Assessments, Have Declaration of Gift Registers etc, Most Parastatals have Whistle Blowing Mechanisms.

-Establishment of Corruption Prevention Committees in Ministries

-Establishment of Anti-Corruption Youth Clubs in Schools

-Infusion of anti-corruption topics into the school curriculum at Junior Secondary Schools

-Establishment of Mr. Honesty mascot for primary schools

-Formulated the code of Conduct for the Private Sector in collaboration with Business Botswana

-Amendment to the Corruption and Economic Crime Act of 2013

-Enactment of the Whistle Blowing Act 2016

-Played an active role in the Establishment of the Financial Intelligence Agency

-Played an active role in the enactment of the Proceeds and Instrument of Crime Act 2014

-Played an influential role in the setting up of a Unit that deals specifically with cases of Corruption at the Directorate of Public Prosecutions

-Played an influential role in the Administration of Justice dedicating a Judge to deal specifically with cases of corruption.

 

-Drafted the National Anti-Corruption Strategy though not yet implemented.

– Had tabled the draft bill on the declaration of assets before Cabinet and it gone back to the Attorney General’ Chambers to input comments.

 

 

 

INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

 

-Establishment of the Commonwealth Africa Anti-Corruption Centre

-And was the first chairperson of the Association of Commonwealth Africa Anti–Corruption.

-Played an instrumental role in the setting up of SADC Anti-Corruption Committee

– Have steered Botswana as the least corrupt country in Africa and one of the least corrupt in the world

-Founding member of the Southern Africa Forum Against Corruption

– Assisted in the formulation of the 1st Strategic Plan of the Lesotho Anti-Corruption Agency.
